Are you proud of your Country?

Author’s Note: Dear Reader, this is a writing piece explaining why I am proud of my country. Enjoy!

Am I proud of my country? The answer to that question is yes, I am very proud of my country. Why am I proud you might ask? There are many reasons why I am proud for one we have freedom that most countries don’t. We have one of the world’s greatest armed forces. Our country has a democratic kind of government. So as you can see there are many reasons why the United States of America is a great country.

First of all America has freedom. Everyone is free we have freedom of speech. We can say what we are thinking freely. I have freedoms and so does everyone else in some countries they don’t have the freedom that we have. Some countries have a dictatorship I think that’s just wrong. I think people should be able to do as they please, go where they want, when they want, and do what they want. I think that other countries should be able to do that too not just us. How some countries are run is just wrong. I think people should have their freedom.

            You want another reason well here’s one. America has one of the best governments in the world. It is a democratic type of government. Our government allows us all these freedom. So that we may live our life the way we want. We can grow up to be anything we want. Our government allows that. That’s another reason why our country is so great. Also our military is the best. Our military fights for our freedom. Our solders fight for us and put themselves on the line. In the end everything leads back to freedom. That’s why I love my country and am very proud    

Real Steel

Authors Note: Hello reader, this is a persuasive essay about the movie Real Steel. I advise you to go see this movie.

            I think you should go see the movie Real Steel because it is an inspiring story of a man who trains an underdog robot fighting machine to be a winner. The movie has lots of action, fighting, and robots. Plus it is a very inspiring, eye popping action movie. As you can see there are many reasons you should go see the awesome movie that is Real Steel.

            For starters the movie is filled with jaw dropping, slow motion, and just plain awesome action. The robots duel it out to the death to see which robot is best. There are many robots in the movie such as Atom, Zeus, Metro, Midas, Six Shooter, Ambush, Twin Cities, Blacktop, and my favorite Noisy Boy. The action in the movie is non-stop. The fight scenes in this movie are great. The robots never stop fighting throughout the movie.

            You want more? Well the movie is a touching story about how a boy and his father finally meet after eleven years. They reunite through the art of robot fighting. They find their own robot in the local junk yard when they were looking for robot parts trying to build their own robot. They work as a team the boy does the programming and the man teaches the robot to fight using the rare shadow function the robot has. The robot that they found was named Atom. He is a second generation robot built for sparring not actual robot fights but the boy insisted on training him. He starts small fighting at the zoo against his first ever opponent Metro. He won his first match and took home two thousand dollars too.

Lastly the movie has different characters it’s hard to keep track of who’s who. The characters are a mix of robots and humans. The robots fight and the humans control them. In the movie it’s supposed to be in the future when robots fight for people. When human boxing era has passed and it’s all about the robot fighting. The main character used to be a professional boxer. But when the robots started fighting, the humans stopped. So they started settling disputes by robot fighting instead of boxing/brawling.

            The ending of the movie is really bad. I despised it. But that’s the only part I didn’t like. The ending doesn’t really tell you anything about what happens after the final fight against the world champion Robot fighter Zeus. I hope they make a second movie that explains what happened after the big fight against Zeus in the end. So as you can see there are so many reasons why you should see the movie Real Steel. I hope that more people will see the movie. It is a really good movie and anyone who likes action movies should really go see it. I recommend it for everybody. Doesn’t matter how old or young you are, this movie is age friendly, which is another perk about it. Even if you’re one of those DVD type people I suggest you go and see this movie now. It is amazing. Go see this movie!

All of Summer in a Day

Authors Note: this is the review of the short story “All Summer in a Day.”

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live on Venus? In the story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury, some kids live on Venus and it rains for 7 years and the sun comes out every 7 years for only 2 hours. This story is an Irony because of its characteristics, symbolism, and how it fits on the ironic mode of literature plotline.

The characteristics of this story were that Margot got locked in the closet. That means that good, Margot, was weak and evil, The teacher, William, and the rest of the class, was strong because they were the ones that locked her in the closet. Also it was highly unrealistic because it rained for 7 years and was sunny for only 2 hours. Also that people could live on Venus, and even worse was that kids live on Venus. Neither of those things could ever happen in real life. Those are the characteristics of the story.

There is a lot of symbolism in this story. Some are that it is raining and that it is dark outside. Some of the colors are red, black, and gray. There aren’t any animals in the story. Another symbolism in the story is that she gets locked in the closet and couldn’t see the sun. When the kids let her out they realized what they had done.

The story is an irony of the characteristics and the symbolism. When the kids realized that they made Margot miss the only two hours of sun for the next seven years they felt bad. I would feel the same way if I did that but I’ve never done anything like that. So I don’t know what it would feel like but I bet they felt pretty bad. But then again that would never happen because it’s like almost sunny everyday here so I couldn’t really do anything like that. And we don’t live on Venus        

Sports DWA Fall

Do you like sports? I love to play sports with my friends. My favorite sport is football. My friends and I love to play football in my backyard. I have a really big backyard, it’s two acres. My favorite football teams are the Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers. I like the Packers because they have some of my favorite player in the NFL like Donald Driver and Aaron Rodgers. I like the Bengals because they have something to prove, they have a really good defense but not a very good quarterback. They have been to the Super Bowl two times and have not won yet. My favorite player o the Bengals is the new rookie A.J. Green. He was ranked the number one draft pick.

             

            While football is my favorite sport my friends and I also like to play baseball. I am pretty good at baseball. During the summer I play in a baseball league. My favorite baseball team is the Milwaukee Brewers. I like the Brewers because they have really good players like Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder. My favorite players are Nyjer Morgan, Rickie Weeks, and Prince Fielder. Nyjer Morgan is really funny he goes by three different names, Tony Plush, Tony Tombstone and Tony Gumbo. Those are his names when he’s on the field or he calls them his “gentleman’s names.” Prince Fielder is a powerful hitter, he has 31 homeruns this season. Rickie Weeks is a great second baseman he rarely lets the baseball get by him. He just got back from an injury.

Baseball is fun but so is basketball. Last year I played on the Pewaukee basketball team. It was a lot of fun and we only lost a few. My favorite basketball teams are the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat. The Bucks usually don’t do that good they have some good players. My favorite is Andrew Bogut, he is seven feet tall! He can easily dunk it. The Heat have a really good team ever since they got LeBron James. My favorite players on the Heat are LeBron James and Dwayne Wade. LeBron is six feet eight inches tall and can past anybody on the court. Dwayne has great tree point shooting skills.

            I play lots of sports with my friends and family. I go to lots of sporting events too. I watch football a lot with my dad. We cheer on the Packers every week. I don’t watch a lot of basketball but I like to play it at the park with my friends. I haven’t been to a basketball game this year but I’d like to. Baseball is also very entertaining. My family loves to watch the Brewer win. I’ve been to four Brewer games this year and only saw them lose one. Sports are great and they get you fit. Exercise is very important. And sports help a lot. I love to play sports!
